Nansulate® Coatings for Energy Efficient Tire Manufacturing
Nansulate® thermal insulation coatings offer a variety of effective solutions for insulating tire curing presses, vulcanization containers, steam pipes, steam valves and more.
Now there is a way to insulate equipment easily and effectively with a liquid "thermal blanket". The coatings are easily sprayed onto hot equipment to minimize or eliminate any downtime and are moisture resistant, meaning they will last for years without being subject to infiltration of moisture, which degrades other types of insulation.
How much will you save? Each application is unique, however the typical average energy savings experienced in industrial manufacturing environments is 20%. You can review our industrial case studies for more detail.

Ultimate Insulation Solution (UIS) |
Clear Insulation Solution (CIS) |
| Used for: |
Typically used for equipment that is stationary. Provides higher thermal performance in fewer coats. Has rough, textured finish. |
Typically used for equipment that is not stationary, or has moving parts that need the thinnest application choice. Has a smooth finish.
|
Products Used/Thickness
(Typical thicknesses are given, however these can be adjusted accordingly for each application) |
EPX NanoPrime™ applied at 4 coats (as primer), each coat applied at 4 mils/100 microns wet film thickness
Nansulate® EPX - 2 coats, each coat applied at 40 mils/1000 microns wet film thickness
(If needed for UV resistance) EPX NanoPrime™ can be applied at 1 coat at a top coat.
|
Nansulate® High Heat - 10 coats, each coat applied at 4 mils/100 microns wet film thickness |
Typical Energy Savings *
*Based on lab testing, customer results. Savings may be higher, depending upon environment and process temperatures. |

| Coverage Rates |
EPX NanoPrime™ @ 4-coat coverage = 112.5 S.F. per gallon
Nansulate® EPX ® 2-coat coverage = 38 S.F. per gallon
(If needed for UV resistance) EPX NanoPrime™ @ 1-coat coverage = 450 S.F. per gallon
|
Nansulate® High Heat @ 10-coat coverage = 45 S.F. per gallon |
| Product Pricing |
EPX NanoPrime™ - sold in 1 or 5-gallon: $89.95 per gallon
Nansulate® EPX - sold in 2-gallon kit or 5-gallon kit: $135.00 per gallon
|
Nansulate® High Heat - sold in 1 or 5-gallon: $89.95 per gallon |
| Calculate How Much You Need |
EPX NanoPrime™:
No UV Top coat: Divide your S.F. coverage by 112.5
With UV Top Coat: Divide your S.F. coverage by 90
Nansulate® EPX:
Divide your S.F. coverage by 38
For both: Industry standard calculation to account for overspray/loss is add 10% to the amount of gallons needed
|
Nansulate® High Heat:
Divide your S.F. coverage by 45
Industry standard calculation to account for overspray/loss is to add 10% to the amount of gallons needed |
| Example on How to Calculate Amount Needed: |
1000 S.F. of coverage area, no UV top coat needed:
1000 / 112.5 = 8.88 gallons of EPX NanoPrime™.
Account for overspray/loss: 8.88 x 1.1 (additional 10%) = 9.7 gallons, round up to 10 gallons needed.
1000/38 = 26.31gallons of Nansulate® EPX.
Account for overspray/loss: 26.31 x 1.1 (additional 10%) = 28.9 gallons, round up to 29 gallons needed. |
1000 S. F. of coverage area
1000 / 45 = 22.22 gallons of Nansulate® High Heat.
Account for overspray/loss: 22.22 x 1.1 (additional 10%) = 24.4 gallons, round up to 25 gallons needed. |
